Nancy Caiger - Why We Give

Published on 26 May 2025

“I wanted my gifts to provide some leverage – a base others can build on in the years ahead.”

Nancy Caiger gives to Te Ira Wāhine o Waikato – the Waikato Women’s Fund – with both heart and vision. A philanthropist and founding member of the Fund, Nancy is focused on one thing: building a more equal future for her mokopuna and generations to come.

She gives for now and for later — splitting her donations to support immediate needs and to grow a long-term endowment.

“If all you're doing is giving to be spent, you're constantly starting again. An endowment is the key to longevity and real impact.”

Nancy believes in personal responsibility — and also in building ladders, not just safety nets. She wants her grandchildren, and all young people, to reach their potential without stepping over others to do it.

“We’ve made progress. But we’re not there yet. This Fund is about creating the conditions for real, measurable change for women and girls in the Waikato.”

Ngā mihi Nancy – your leadership is lighting the path forward.
